Jennifer Beals on Prince, Michael Jackson, Life After Death, and New Series PROOF on TNT

Now a brilliant surgeon is ready to take up the mantle inTNT‘s intriguing new drama Proof, starring Golden Globe® nominee Jennifer Beals (The L WordFlashdance)and executive-produced by Emmy® winner Kyra Sedgwick (TNT’s The Closer).

Set to premiere this summer, Proof also stars Matthew Modine (And the Band Played OnWeeds), David Sutcliffe (Private PracticeGilmoreGirls) and Joe Morton (ScandalTerminator 2: Judgment Day), along with Callum Blue (Dead Like MeRoyalPains), Edi Gathegi (X-Men: First ClassJustified), Annie Thurman (The Hunger Games) and newcomer Caroline Rose Kaplan.

Proof is set to premiere Tuesday, June 16, at 10 p.m. (ET/PT) on TNT and will be available across TNT’s on-demand, digital and mobile platforms the following day. In the series, Beals plays Dr. Carolyn Tyler, who hassuffered the recent, devastating loss of her teenage son, the breakup of her marriage to Dr. Len Barliss (Sutcliffe)and a growing estrangement from her daughter (Thurman). Carolyn is persuaded by Ivan Turing (Modine), acancer-stricken tech inventor and billionaire, to investigate cases of reincarnation, near-death experiences,hauntings and other phenomena, all of it in the search for evidence that death is not the end.

It’s both a journey of exploration toward finding an answer to a question many people have asked and a deeply personal and emotionaljourney for Carolyn, who hopes to find answers in the wake of her son’s death.Assisting Carolyn on her task are Dr. Zedan “Zed” Badawi (Gathegi), a young intern from Africa, and JanelRamsey (Kaplan), Turing’s brilliant young protégé. Together they will explore one of life’s most profoundmysteries, crossing paths along the way with Peter Van Owen (Blue), a bestselling author who claims to bepsychic. Constantly trying to control the maverick Carolyn is her intimidating boss, Dr. Charles Richmond(Morton), head of the hospital.

Proof is produced by TNT, with Kyra SedgwickRob Bragin (GreekMurphy Brown), Tom Jacobson (FerrisBueller’s Day OffUncle Buck), Jill Littman and Emmy winner Alex Graves (The West WingGame of Thrones)serving as executive producers. The pilot episode was written by Bragin and directed by Graves.
