The Playboy Super Bowl Party will not only celebrate the 50th anniversary of the championship game, but it will also kickoff festivities for the launch of the new modernized version of Playboy Magazine, which will go on sale Friday, February 12. We had a chance to interview Amanda Civitello, Vice President, Events and Promotions for Playboy Enterprises, Inc. She confirmed Grammy nominated EDM producer & DJ Alesso as the headliner, as well as many event details. Playboy will be building a structure tent on Lot A of AT&T Park. The star-studded invite-only bash, which kicks off FRI February 5th at 10pm, will be one of the most exciting parties of Super Bowl Weekend. Is Playboy doing this party in-house, as opposed to hiring an outside event producer? Tell us your involvement with the Playboy Super Bowl Party.

AMANDA CIVITELLO: I am the VP of Events and Promotions at Playboy so it is my job to develop the creative direction of the event and package it to be marketed to our advertisers. We are working with The Visionary Group again this year on our party during Super Bowl weekend (this is the third time we’ve worked with them on this event). They help us on the production and build out of the event to make our vision come to life.

Why the move from hip-hop to EDM star ALESSO for the headliner this year?

AMANDA CIVITELLO: We are revealing the newly redesigned Playboy magazine at this event and with that needs to come change. The party needed a refresh and, for us, that started with rethinking the talent. We are celebrating the future of Playboy at the party and EDM ties in perfectly with the stylized futuristic environment we are creating.

Besides the headliner, how will the Playboy Super Bowl Party be different this year?

AMANDA CIVITELLO: For starters, the party will be larger in size this year–we are expecting 2,000+ guests throughout the night. Party guests will also notice a big change in the production value. In most recent years, we executed this event in existing venues or within pop-up event spaces led by other brands. This year, we are literally building our venue from the ground up with a structure tent within Lot A @ AT&T Park. This allows us the freedom to design the event from scratch to ensure party guests have an amazing experience, as well as integrate our advertisers organically into the overall look and feel.

We know about the location, headliner, 2,000 guests, two dozen Playboy Bunnies. What other exclusive details can you share about inside the party (sponsor activations, theme, costumes, high-end cocktails, food, etc.)?

AMANDA CIVITELLO: We are really excited for the first non-nude issue of Playboy (our March 2016 issue) to make its debut at this party and guests will be some of the first consumers to see it! Copies of the magazine are going to be distributed via an Instagram activated vending machine – guests will be encouraged to post for a peek of the new Playboy magazine. Before guests enter the venue, they will walk through a time portal tunnel that takes them on a visual journey of the history of Playboy and our auto sponsor Dodge. EFFEN Vodka, our exclusive spirit partner for the party, will be serving molecular cocktails curated by Benjamin Cooper (a contemporary cocktail bar in San Francisco) and some of San Fran’s most notable food trucks will serve savory and sweet treats to guests throughout the night. We will also have a Dodge interactive hologram experience and a unique Photo Booth for guests which will be set up as more of a live photoshoot.

What is the guy-to-girl ratio that Playboy strives for at this event?

AMANDA CIVITELLO: We always strive to have our events be at least 50% female and I think we do a really good job of coming close to our goal. Super Bowl weekend is a challenge as it is a highly male attended weekend but we have a formula that we use internally to make sure that we have more than enough female guests to balance attendance.

What other celebs will DJ, Host, or Emcee at the event?

AMANDA CIVITELLO: In addition to our headlining talent ALESSO, DJ Politik and DJ Ruckus will do sets at the event.

Will Hugh Hefner be there?

AMANDA CIVITELLO: No, he won’t be making it this year.

How many celebs have RSVP’d so far? How does this response compare to years past?

AMANDA CIVITELLO: The RSVPs are just starting to come in, but I can tell you that Playboy parties are known for attracting some of the biggest celebrity and athlete names out there. We expect a great turnout once again this year.

Is it a sad reality that not all current NFL players can get into the exclusive Playboy Party during Super Bowl weekend?

AMANDA CIVITELLO: I think everyone doing an event during Super Bowl Weekend would tell you that they would love to be able to invite every current and active NFL player, however, it’s just not doable as that number is so large. We do our best to accommodate as many athlete requests as we can and really try to be fair across the board. It all goes back to executing that secret formula of a great event which is maintaining a balance of male/female guests.

You have ESPN, Pharrell at DirecTV, and celebs at Leather & Laces on the same night. What will make Playboy the best party of the night?

AMANDA CIVITELLO: Well, for starters, we have 24 Playmates in Bunny Costume – no one else will have that! I think everyone is going to be really curious to see what the new Playboy looks like and we are excited to share all of that gorgeous photography and the final product, the magazine, with our guests. And, there is no better way to end your Friday night than with an ALESSO DJ set – who wouldn’t want to see that?!?
