Fans of the 80’s and smart and funny screenplays will enjoy “Red Oaks.” In the summer of 1985, 20-year-old David Meyers takes a job as a tennis pro at Red Oaks Country Club in suburban New Jersey, as his parents, girlfriend, and co-workers pull him toward a future he’s increasingly unsure he wants. JENNIFER GREY has a career that’s spanned almost 30 years. After acclaimed supporting performances in such films as The Cotton Club and Red Dawn, Grey became a star with her portrayal of the jealous sister, Jeannie, in the John Hughes comedy, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off opposite Matthew Broderick. This led to her now iconic performance as Frances “Baby” Houseman in the beloved classic, Dirty Dancing opposite Patrick Swayze—her work in that film earned her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress. Other major film roles followed, including Wind, Bloodhounds of Broadway, Bounce and Red Belt.
On television, Grey played herself on the hit sitcom, It’s Like You Know by Seinfeld co-producer Peter Mehlman. She starred in numerous TV movies including The Westside Waltz with Shirley MacLaine, Liza Minnelli and Kathy Bates, HBO’s Fallen Angels – A Dime a Dance (Cable Ace Nomination, Best Actress), Murder in Mississippi (as Rita Shwerner), and The Road to Christmas. She appeared in a recurring role in David Milch’s HBO series, John From Cincinnati, and has also guest starred on Friends and The New Adventures of Old Christine opposite husband Clark Gregg. Grey also appeared as a guest star on the FOX hit, House. Grey was recently featured in the Lifetime TV movie Bling Ring and Joss Whedon’s upcoming In Your Eyes.
The daughter of Broadway legend Joel Grey and the granddaughter of famed Yiddish musician/comedian Mickey Katz, Grey got her start in the NY theatre, starring first in the off-Broadway hit, Album, and later on Broadway in The Twilight of the Golds. Grey lives in Los Angeles with her husband and 13-year-old daughter.
