Broadway Stars at REAF’s Help is on The Way Gala

Watch as Bay Area HQ’s Jessa catches up with American Idol & Broadway stars at REAF’s 21st Annual Help is on the Way Gala at The Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. Over 800 guests came out to experience the “Hollywood Glam” event, and enjoy cocktails, restaurant food stations, music, and, of course, performances from stars of TV, film & stage. “Baywatch,” veteran Susan Anton sang “Hooray for Hollywood” to kick off the evenings performances, and the audience also enjoyed John Llloyd Young’s rendition of “Unchained Melody.” Jake Simpson thrilled attendees with his version of The Police classic “Roxanne,” as well.

The charity gala was created by theRichmond/Ermet Aid Foundation, founded by Barbara Richmond and the late Peggy Ermet in memory of their sons, John Richmond and Doug Ermet, who both lost their lives to AIDS. In 1995, the two women decided not to get mad but get even when they launched a musical AIDS benefit to honor their sons by raising funds for AIDS service organizations. To date REAF has raised well over $3 million dollars for AIDS services and, beginning in 2015 will also support hunger programs and programs for homeless and underserved youth.

The three-tiered event consisted of a pre-performance cocktail reception for corporate sponsors and Underwriters, featuring fine wines from top California wineries, special spirits bars, and hors d’oeuvres from SF’s best restaurants and caterers; a Broadway-quality concert; and a post-performance champagne and dessert reception with the cast for sponsors and Underwriters.
